Blooming v Universitario Vinto, Copa Paceña Playoff 2nd leg, Estadio Real Santa Cruz, 16/11/26
It was back to the same stadium the following day to see the other big club in Santa Cruz, Club Blooming, play Universitario de Vinto, a team from Cochabamba .
This match was also a playoff round to see who would reach the quarter final of the Copa Paceña (like a league cup) which runs parallel with the Bolivian Primera division. This was the return leg after the first game ended 0-0.

The match ended in a comfortable 3-1 win for the home side. Again it was a great atmosphere with the Blooming Barra singing non stop throughout. I was amazed by the number of projectiles thrown from the throughout the match and that was with their team winning!
At one point a member of the Vinto staff was floored for a few minutes after being struck by something. The match was stopped for a few minutes with the Blooming players appealing for calm from the crowd.

Oriente and Club Blooming normally play their matches at the Estadio Ramon Tahuichi but due to renovations the match was played at the home of Real Santa Cruz, a club that currently plays in the Liga Cruceña (second division). The stadium was packed and there were long queues outside when I arrived.
Blooming and Oriente are bitter rivals and it would be worth going to see the Classico Cruceño once the renovations are finished.

How to buy tickets for Club Blooming

Tips for visiting Estadio Real Santa Cruz
The stadium is located around 3 km southeast of Plaza 24 de Septiembre. To get there I took an Uber and reserved one for the way back. Again it was a great experience, with friendly people and passionate fans! The stadium was in a decent barrio and I’d say absolutely fine to go on your own although take usual precautions especially at night.
The security is very relaxed and I wasn’t asked for any ID.

Where to buy the Official Blooming shirt?
Again I struggled to find an official shirt. It appears you can buy them at the ‘Sede Blooming’ sites around the city but I ran out of time to search properly. The only other option is Marathon Sports…..in La Paz!
