Oriente Petrolero v Nacional de Potosi Copa Paceña Playoff 2nd leg, Estadio Real Santa Cruz, 15/11/25
Oriente Petrolero is one of the biggest clubs in Bolivia and is the best supported based on average attendance. Their proud fact is they have never been relegated from the top division.
This match against first division rivals Real Potosí was the playoff round to see who would reach the quarter final of the copa paceña (like a league cup) which runs parallel with the Bolivian Primera division. This was the return leg after Potosí won the first match 3-1

The home side got off to a good start, scoring within 5 minutes but ultimately failed to overturn the deficit and the game finished 1-1
Despite having a man sent off midway through the first half and missing a late penalty, Potosí were the better team. The best performer for Oriente was the Barra Brava behind the goal.

Oriente and Club Blooming normally play their matches at the Estadio Ramon Tahuichi but due to renovations the match was played at the home of Real Santa Cruz, a club that currently plays in the Liga Cruceña (second division).
Although it was a small stadium, the atmosphere was great and the fans were very passionate. It was quite heated at the end with the away team (and some of the home players) having to run through a hail of missiles from the crowd! Some of the scenes would make front news in the UK but here it’s just normal.

How to buy tickets for Oriente Petrolera

Tips for visiting Estadio Real Santa Cruz
The stadium is located around 3 km southeast of Plaza 24 de Septiembre. To get there I took an Uber and reserved one for the way back. It was a great experience, very friendly people and passionate fans! The stadium was in a decent barrio and I’d say absolutely fine to go on your own although take usual precautions especially at night.

Where to buy the Official Oriente shirt?
Ok this was a real challenge. The only place you can buy an official Oriente shirt is the Marathon store online or at the official Oriente shop situated at the clubs complex near to the Real Santa Cruz stadium. Unfortunately they had sold out when I went but I had a quick look at their facilities and was allowed to see their trophy cabinet and some historical match worn club shirts.
